PrivacyEvery clock on one rail
We keep a job enquiry for 18 months, then it goes.
This notice says what this site records when you send a job, open the chat or arrive from an ad, who else receives it, how long each piece is kept and how to make us delete it. The dates down the rail are the ones that matter.
EffectiveOctober 2, 2026Last amended October 2, 2026
When this notice applies
This privacy notice takes effect on October 2, 2026 and was last amended on that same date. It covers simsandsonselectric.co and everything sent through it: the job form, the support chat, and the visit itself. It does not cover a phone call to 312-282-1170 beyond the fact that we write your job down to do it.
Who runs this site
The site is operated by Simsandsonselectric, trading as Sims & Sons Electric and Plumbing at simsandsonselectric.co. That business decides what is collected here and why, so it is the controller of your data.
Postal address: 1338 W Eddy St, Chicago, Illinois 60657, Chicago, Illinois, United States. Email [email protected]. Phone 312-282-1170.
What we record
Less than most sites. No account, no password, no payment and no card data. Nothing is sold through this site and no payment is taken on it.
The job form
When you send a job, lafu411.php writes the name, phone, email and job address you typed, the kind of job you picked, your message, the specification you chose (for example "Fuse box, 60 amp") and the consent tick. With it, automatically: your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, the referring URL, the moment the form was rendered and the moment it was sent.
The support chat
coba808.php keeps the conversation, plus a name, phone or email if you choose to give one. A token is kept in your browser's local storage so you can come back to the same conversation.
Technical and log data
The web server logs each request: IP address, time, page asked for, user-agent and referrer.
Cookie and storage identifiers
Your consent choice is stored in your browser under site_consent_v2. Nothing else on this site persists a choice. If you allow storage, the advertising and measurement tags may set their own cookies, listed on the cookie notice.
Advertising click identifiers
If you reach us from an ad, the link carries a click identifier: gclid, msclkid or fbclid. It arrives in the address and the referring URL.
What each piece is used for
- Form fields: to call you back, book a site visit, write the scope and price basis, and do the work at that address.
- Chat messages: to answer the question you asked and, if it turns into a job, to carry the details over.
- IP, user-agent and the two timestamps: to spot spam and automated submissions. A form sent two seconds after the page opened is not a person.
- Server logs: to keep the site running, trace faults and block abuse.
- Click identifiers and ad cookies, only with your consent: to tell Google, Microsoft or Meta that a click led to an enquiry, so we can see which ads bring real jobs and stop paying for the ones that do not.
- The consent record: to remember your answer so the banner does not ask every page.
We do not use any of it to build a profile of you, and we do not sell it.
The legal basis for each use
| Purpose | Legal basis | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Answering and doing your job | Contract, or steps you asked for before one | You asked us to quote or come out. |
| Contacting you about it | Consent | The tick box on the form. |
| Spam checks and server logs | Legitimate interest | Keeping the site and inbox usable. |
| Ad conversion and measurement | Consent | Only after you press Allow. |
| Storing your consent choice | Legitimate interest and legal obligation | We have to be able to show what you chose. |
The ads that send people here
This site runs paid advertising today. Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising and Meta Ads send traffic to it. Each platform adds its own click identifier to the link you tap:
- Google Ads attaches
gclid. - Microsoft Advertising (Bing) attaches
msclkid. - Meta Ads (Facebook and Instagram) attaches
fbclid, where a campaign runs there.
The identifier tells the platform which click became a visit. With your consent, the tag reports back when that visit becomes an enquiry. Without consent, no ad cookie is written and the tag sends only the cookieless, denied-state signals described next. None of these platforms has been asked to vouch for this site, and nothing here should be read that way.
Consent Mode v2, set to no until you say yes
The site uses Google Consent Mode v2. Before the page loads anything from an ad platform, four signals are set to denied:
ad_storage: no advertising cookies.ad_user_data: no sending of user data to Google for advertising.ad_personalization: no use for personalized ads or remarketing.analytics_storage: no analytics cookies.
They stay denied until you press Allow on the banner. Then all four go to granted. Press Decline, or reopen Cookie settings in the footer and withdraw, and they are set back to denied the moment you do. Your choice is kept under site_consent_v2.
Who else receives it
- Google Ireland Ltd / Google LLC for Google Ads. Receives the
gclidand the consent signals. - Microsoft Ireland Operations Ltd for Microsoft Advertising. Receives the
msclkid. Its handling is set out in the Microsoft privacy statement at privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement. - Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd for Meta Ads. Receives the
fbclidwhere a campaign runs there. - The hosting provider that serves this site and stores the enquiry database.
- The mail provider that carries the notification of your enquiry to our inbox.
The hosting and mail providers act on our instructions only. Nobody else gets your details. Not a lead broker, not a list, not a call center.
Data crossing borders
We are in Chicago, so data collected here is processed in the United States. If you write to us from Europe, your enquiry travels to the US. The ad platforms above also move data between their Irish entities and the US. Those transfers rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and, where the recipient is certified, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
How long each piece is kept
| What | Kept for | Then |
|---|---|---|
| Enquiries and their email copies | 18 months | Deleted |
| Chat transcripts | 12 months | Deleted |
| Server and access logs | 90 days | Overwritten |
| Record of a consent choice | 6 months | The banner asks again |
If an enquiry becomes a job, the quote and invoice are business records and follow the tax rules for those, not this table.
How it is protected
Every page and every form post travels over HTTPS. The enquiry database sits outside the public web folder and is reached only through a password-protected panel used by the firm. Access is limited to the people who handle jobs. Honeypot fields and timing checks keep automated junk out of the inbox. No system is perfect; if we learn of a breach that touches your data, we tell you by the contact you gave.
Your rights under the GDPR
If you reach this site from the European Economic Area or the UK, the GDPR gives you these rights over your data:
- Access: a copy of what we hold.
- Rectification: wrong details corrected.
- Erasure: deletion, where we have no legal reason to keep it.
- Restriction: we hold it but stop using it while a dispute is settled.
- Portability: your data in a common machine-readable format.
- Objection: to any use based on legitimate interest.
- Withdrawing consent at any time, through Cookie settings in the footer or by email. Withdrawal does not undo what was lawful before it.
Your rights under US state law
California residents have rights under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA, and residents of other states with privacy laws in force have similar ones: to know what personal information we collect and why, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal information. Ad conversion tags can count as sharing under California law, so pressing Decline, or sending a Global Privacy Control signal, is your opt-out. We will not treat you differently for using any of these rights.
Global Privacy Control is honoured
If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal (the Sec-GPC header), the site treats it as an opt-out of sale and sharing. All four consent signals stay denied and we do not ask you again.
Children
This site is for people booking electrical and plumbing work on a property. It is not meant for children and we do not knowingly take data from anyone under 16. If a child has sent us something, write to us and we delete it.
Complaining to a regulator
Tell us first if you can; most problems are fixed with one email. You can also complain to your state Attorney General. In California, you can go to the California Privacy Protection Agency. Visitors from Europe can complain to the data protection authority in their own country.
Making a data request
Email [email protected] with "Data request" in the subject, or write to Sims & Sons Electric and Plumbing, 1338 W Eddy St, Chicago, Illinois 60657, United States.
Say what you want: a copy, a correction, deletion, or an opt-out. Give the phone number or email you used on the form or the chat, so we can find the record and check it is yours. We may ask one question to confirm that. We answer within 14 days. No charge.
An authorized agent can make a request for you with your signed permission.
When this notice changes
A change gets a new date at the top of this page and on the rail. If it changes what we collect or who receives it, the cookie banner asks you again, and anyone with an open enquiry is told by email.
Talking to someone about this
Privacy questions go to the same people who answer the phone. Email [email protected], call 312-282-1170, or post a letter to 1338 W Eddy St, Chicago, Illinois 60657. Cookie details are on the cookie notice and the rest of the rules are in the terms.
